Product Description

The VXIpc-486 Model 240, a product from National Instruments, is an embedded computer boasting a 40 MHz internal microprocessor. Its default design allows it to function as a VXI controller. This model houses numerous communication interfaces including LPT, GPIB, VGA, and COM1/2. The device's GPIB or IEEE 488 interface is built to sync well with the NI-488.2 network. The VXIpc-486 comes in two distinct models: VXIpc-486/1 and VXIpc-486/2. It typically functions as a VXIbus Slot #0 System Controller, managing the system clock driver, Bus Arbiter, Bus Timer, and System Reset driver. However, its setup is flexible and can be adjusted based on system and hardware requirements. The VXIpc-486/1 model includes an internal hard disk drive and occupies 1 VXIbus slot, while the VXIpc-486/2 model, needing 2 VXIbus slots, supports various combinations of hard disk drives, floppy drives, and I/O expansion kits. This model is equipped with a sturdy front panel offering multiple LED indicators and a variety of interface connectors. Notably, the "Turbo" LED on the front panel denotes that the processor is operating at peak frequency. The device also contains an External CLK10 connector, designed as an SMB type connector, to handle TTL CLK10 I/O signals. Additionally, the VXIpc-486 Model 240 features 1 External Trigger Input and 1 External Audio/Trigger Output connector. Its primary VXIbus connector is a 96-pin DIN connector. National Instruments has declared the VXIpc-486 Model 240 Obsolete Status, but this embedded computer will still be accessible for purchase and repairs.
