Product Description

The NI GPIB-USB-HS+ (Model Numbers: 783368-01 and 783370-01) is an IEEE 488 Device by National Instruments which can double as a portable analyzer for computers having Universal Serial Bus (USB) capabilities. Its unique design allows users to include a variety of GPIB instruments into their systems. The device delivers maximum IEEE 488.2 performance by taking advantage of the Hi-Speed USB port, allowing users to control up to 14 programmable devices without the need for a GPIB cable. This results in reduced overhead and improved turnaround times. Additionally, the GPIB-USB-HS+ is fully compatible with the NI-488.2 driver software assuring reliable interfacing with GPIB-enabled third-party instruments. Its compact design makes it perfect for portable applications, especially with laptop computers or systems with limited internal I/O slots. This is a plug-and-play device eliminating the need for any external DIP switch adjustments. It does not require a system reboot upon installation. Its USB bus-powered nature supports 3-wire and HS488 signaling, providing up to 1830 Kbytes/s and 7920 Kbytes/s in 3-wire and HS488 modes respectively. The device features a standard GPIB I/O connector (IEEE 488 24-pin) and a standard type A USB plug. Under normal conditions, it consumes around 80 mA of power, which can increase to 500 mA at +5 V. Weighing in at 153 g (including the USB cable), the device measures 8.0 x 6.1 x 2.0 cm in size. The recommended operating temperature is between 0 °C to 55 °C, and the storage temperature range is from -20 °C to 70 °C. The device operates best in non-condensing humidity levels ranging from 10% to 90% and can be stored at humidity levels between 5% to 95%. Please note that National Instruments has announced the GPIB-USB-HS+ device as obsolete, but the device will still be available for purchase and repairs.
